Upper Darby Township has an immediate opening for a Director of Finance to serve as the department head of the Finance Department.  Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director is responsible for planning and coordinating all Municipal financial transactions and purchases. Duties include financial forecasting and planning, budgeting and reporting, systems development, debt and cash management, internal auditing, investment and grants management, payroll, revenue collection risk management, and pension administration. Position requires highly administrative work managing a broad range of municipal finance functions.

The Director of Finance must have thorough knowledge, skill and ability in every phase of municipal financial management and good knowledge of administration of all municipal functions; proven ability to supervise an accounting/bookkeeping staff and meet deadlines.

Compensation and Benefits
 

The hiring range is $150,000 to $160,000 per year.  

Upper Darby Township offers an excellent benefits package which includes a pension plan, Township paid life insurance, IBX PC 10/20/70 medical plan with RX $3/$5, United Health Care Vision and United Concordia dental.  Employees also have the option to obtain supplemental coverage to fully address their personal needs.

Education/Skill Requirements
 

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration or closely related field; a minimum of 5 years of experience in progressively responsible financial management position preferably in government and Municipal experience.  Preference will be given to candidates with a CPA, GFOA Certification and/or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration or closely related field.
