Educational Session: The Passage of Act 49, Pension State Aid, & MMOs

Presented by: Sue Trout, Vice President of Client Relations - Mockenhaupt 

Description: This presentation will review the passage of Act 49, a new law permitting local governments and regional police departments to amend their police pension plans to allow officers who are vested in their current plan the option to purchase prior part-time or full-time police service to be credited for pension service purposes. We will review the processes to implement the benefit including how to add the benefit to a pension plan, what service is eligible for purchase, and how the purchase price is calculated. We will also discuss State aid and MMO processes.
