GFOA-PA Celebrates Mark Romito’s Career Recognition Award

GFOA-PA is proud to celebrate Mark Romito for receiving the Career Recognition Award at the 2026 Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence. The awards ceremony was held April 22, 2026, at The Forum Auditorium.

Presented annually, the Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence honor local governments and individuals who have developed innovative ways to strengthen their communities and improve quality of life across Pennsylvania. This year, 20 local government leaders and communities were recognized for their achievements.

Romito was nominated by GFOA-PA in recognition of his outstanding leadership and longstanding service to the public finance profession.

A respected leader in local government finance, Romito brings 25 years of experience in the field. During his tenure as Director of Finance for the Township of Upper St. Clair, where he served for more than a decade, he guided financial operations that helped maintain strong fund balances, high bond ratings, and award-winning financial reporting practices.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Romito has made a lasting impact through volunteer leadership with GFOA-PA, including service as President of the organization. He has also contributed nationally as Vice Chair of GFOA’s Treasury and Investment Management Committee, helping advance the profession through education, mentorship, and advisory service.

GFOA-PA congratulates Mark Romito on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for his continued dedication to excellence in local government finance.
