A Well-Deserved Recognition
This month, during Pennsylvania’s Local Government Week, the Governor’s Center for Local Government Services hosted the prestigious 2025 Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence to honor the outstanding achievements of local officials across the state. The event, a tradition that highlights innovative initiatives aimed at improving quality of life, was an opportunity to recognize leaders who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their communities.
We are thrilled to celebrate Judith Kording, Assistant Manager of Shaler Township, who was awarded the Career Recognition Award. Nominated by the GFOA-PA, Judith’s exceptional leadership and commitment to Shaler Township have made a lasting impact.
As the Assistant Manager of Shaler Township, Judith Kording has been a driving force in enhancing the Township’s fiscal administration and fostering strong community engagement. Her role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, from managing personnel and overseeing contract negotiations to ensuring the Township’s financial health.
One of Judith’s most significant contributions has been her vision to enhance the Township’s community events. In 2017, recognizing a need for more activities that brought residents together, she introduced several beloved initiatives, including Fall Fest, Movies in the Park, Float with a Flick, and Concerts in the Park. These events have become a highlight for the community, providing opportunities for connection and celebration.
In addition to her work with Shaler Township, Judith has been an active and influential member of the Government Finance Officers Association. She has served on the GFOA–West Region Board, including as President from 2013-2014, and has held several leadership positions on the state board, including President from 2019-2020. Her contributions to the GFOA-PA have further cemented her reputation as a dedicated and impactful leader within the local government community.
The Career Recognition Award is a testament to Judith’s lifelong commitment to improving local governance, fostering community spirit, and making a tangible difference in the lives of residents. Her work is a shining example of the positive impact that dedicated local officials can have on their communities, and we are proud to celebrate her achievements during this year’s Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence.
Join us in congratulating Judith Kording for this well-deserved honor. Her leadership continues to inspire and shape Shaler Township, and her efforts have left a lasting legacy in the community.
