Contracted Finance Manager
EDM’s Contracted Finance Manager position is an opportunity to apply your school
finance experience to improving financial processes and outcomes for schools and
other government entities.
The School Finance Manager serves a portfolio of 2-3 school and/or governmental
entities, acting as those schools’ outsourced Business Manager/CFO ensuring timely
completion of audits, budget, grant reports and other financial matters with the
Superintendent and onsite staff. Based on the assigned entities you will supervise
accounting, accounts payable and payroll either produced with onsite staff or through
EDM’s back office staff.

EDM is a firm founded in 2022 seeking to improve school finance and operations. We
operate throughout Pennsylvania and have governments and schools in the Western,
Central and Eastern parts of Pennsylvania as well as other states. The role of finance
manager is a hybrid role with onsite and remote work. At this time, we are specifically
interested in candidates in the Pittsburgh Area though a part-time remote opportunity
exists where a candidate can be located in any region.
Job responsibilities:
● Act as an outsourced Business Manager/CFO for a portfolio of 2-3 schools,
ensuring financial reports are completed and day to day operations are
successful including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow,
benefits and payroll.
● Prepare audit workpapers, budget worksheets, reporting documents and other
reports as requested from financial software and other data collection.
● Develop standard operating policies and procedures to solidify best practice
alignment of accounting processes and procedures.
● Establish data collection methods for ACCESS, Erate, Grants, Charter School
and Tuition Payments and other reports to ensure timely and accurate
completion
● Enter data into a variety of portals including websites, financial software, excel
and produce information for the Superintendent and Board to analyze.
● Attend finance committee or board meetings to present and explain finance
strategy.
● Recommend improvements to move the organization’s financial performance
forward.
What you need:
● Experience excelling in a school/government finance role specifically with an
understanding of governmental accounting and reporting.
● Experience as part of a progressive and forward thinking team.
● Comfort with accounting. A CPA or extensive expertise is not required, but
experience navigating accounting software and reading and analyzing
financial reports is a must.
● Intermediate Excel knowledge, such as formulas like vlookups and sumifs.
● Strong quantitative analysis, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, as
every school is different, and approaches and solutions often have to be
customized.
● Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills. Comfort presenting
and explaining information (both verbally and in writing) to people with varying
financial literacy.
● Strong organization and time management skills.
● General comfort with technology systems (e.g., Google suite), Powerschool,
ProSoft, CSIU FIS, PDE Apps.
Final terms of employment will be negotiated with the successful candidates. Both
part-time and full time opportunities are available.
